The Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for positions in administrative support careers. It equips office professionals to respond to the demands of a dynamic computerized workplace.

Students will complete courses designed to develop proficiency in the use of integrated software, oral and written communication, analysis and coordination of office duties and systems, and other support topics. Emphasis is placed on non-technical as well as technical skills.

Graduates should qualify for employment in a variety of positions in business, government, and industry. Job classifications range from entry-level to supervisor to middle management. Students should consult their advisor for information about course scheduling.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate competency in software applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and business presentations
  • Demonstrate attitudes and skills that promote success in the workplace (GE V.5)
  • Key with efficiency and be able to format a variety of workplace documents ranging from basic to advanced
  • Demonstrate knowledge of record keeping principles in both manual and electronic record keeping systems
  • Identify and utilize the required skills, knowledge, and technical information necessary to effectively function as an office assistant
  • Use written and oral discussion to discover and to articulate ideas (GE I.1)
