Mechatronics Engineering Technology A.A.S.

The Mechatronic Engineering Technology curriculum prepares graduates to use basic engineering principles and technical skills to develop and test automated, servo-mechanical and other electromechanical systems.

Curriculum includes instruction in prototype testing, manufacturing and operational testing, system analysis and maintenance procedures. Students will learn multi-craft technical skills including robotics, PLC systems, machine processes, hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial safety. Emphasis will be placed on industrial systems.

Graduates of the curriculum will find employment opportunities in industrial maintenance and manufacturing including assembly, testing, startup, troubleshooting, repair, process improvement, and control systems. Students should qualify to sit for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) mechatronics or similar industry examinations.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate competence in troubleshooting simple hydraulic/pneumatic circuits.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of industrial safety.
  • Demonstrate competence in interpretation of basic blueprints.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of robotic systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of Programmable Logic Controllers.
