Student Financial Aid
Even though Western Piedmont Community College is a relatively low-cost institution, many students find that they must have some financial assistance to gain the most from their college experience. This assistance may take the form of a grant, scholarship, loan, job, or a combination of any of these. The estimated total aid available at WPCC for the academic year is approximately $15 million. Financial aid is supplementary to the efforts of the student and family.
Financial aid is awarded without regard to the applicant’s race, color, religion, creed, national origin, political affiliation, gender, age, disability, medical condition, veteran status, and other categories protected by federal, state, and local anti-discrimination laws.
Students wishing to receive financial aid funds must have transcripts for a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent on file with the Records Office, be enrolled in an eligible program of study (POS) leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate (at least 16 semester hours in length), and maintain satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards for Financial Aid Recipients. Only those credit hours required and needed for completion of the POS will be counted when calculating a student's enrollment status for aid eligibility.
