DRE 096 Integrated Reading and Writing I

This course develops proficiency in specific integrated and contextualized reading and writing skills and strategies. Topics include reading and writing processes, critical thinking strategies, and recognition and composition of well-developed, coherent and unified texts; these topics are primarily taught at the introductory level using texts primarily in a Lexile(c) range of 960 to 1115. Upon completion, students should be able to apply those skills toward understanding a variety of academic and career-related texts and composing effective paragraphs.

Prerequisite

Satisfactory completion of Basic Reading/Writing Skills course or appropriate placement scores
