Campus Clubs & Organizations

The Coordinator of Student Activities is responsible for supervising the SGA and student activities, including Student Clubs and Organizations. The following guidelines apply for the sponsorship and subsequent funding of all clubs and organizations by the SGA:

  • The organization must serve an area of student activity, need, or interest, be compatible with the College's philosophy and educational objectives and must agree to abide by the College's policies and administrative procedures.
  • Membership must be open to all students regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • To achieve recognition, an applying club or organization must complete an official Petition to be submitted to the SGA Secretary and Coordinator of Student Activities and must receive approval by the SGA Executive Council.
  • The organization must submit a Petition for SGA sponsorship and funding yearly to the SGA Secretary and Coordinator of Student Activities. Petitions are to include a current Constitution, officer information, a list of at least ten (10) currently enrolled active members, and the name of the organization's advisor/sponsor (must be a full-time faculty or staff College employee); and such other reasonable rules and regulations required by the President.
  • Each club will nominate one member as a representative to the Student Senate. Representation is mandatory to maintain SGA sponsorship and funding.
  • All clubs and organizations must have at least one full-time staff or faculty sponsor as Advisor to exercise responsibility and provide guidance to club officers. A sponsor is essential to official recognition by the College and SGA.
  • A line item for funding of clubs and organizations will be included in the annual budget of the SGA. Each organization will be allotted funds according to their membership activities, needs, and participation in the SGA. The SGA Budget may specify a maximum amount available to each club or association per academic year. Fund requests will be considered after the Executive Council has approved an organization's petition for sponsorship.
  • Clubs and organizations should submit a request for funds to the SGA Treasurer and Student Activities Coordinator at least two (2) working weeks prior to their anticipated need. Fundraising information is available through the club advisor and the Student Activities Coordinator.
