Educational Fees and Expenses

Educational fees are subject to change by action of the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges, the North Carolina General Assembly, and the Trustees of Western Piedmont Community College.

Accident Insurance

All curriculum students, except inmates in prison or correctional units, must purchase accident insurance during registration. Insurance policy information is available to students through the Business Office. Certain specialized programs may require additional insurance coverage. Insurance fees are non-refundable after the first day of the academic term.

Fee is waived for High School students taking curriculum classes who are not participating in the Burke Middle College program.

Activity Fee

A fee of $4.00 per credit hour up to a maximum of $48.00 per semester is required of all curriculum students, except for specific waived populations. This fee will be assessed for students enrolling during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Activity fees are non-refundable after the first day of the academic term.

Books and Supplies

The cost of books and supplies will vary according to the program of study and number of courses taken. Specialized programs will have higher costs. Uniforms and laboratory materials may add additional expenses for instructional supplies.

Campus Access Fee

A fee of $25.00 per semester is required of all curriculum students, except for specific waived populations.  This fee will be assessed for students enrolling during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.  Parking fees are non-refundable after the first day of the academic term.

Day One Access (DAC)

WPCC’s course material program Day One Access (DAC) is administered through the WPCC Online Bookstore and provides all students with all of their required course materials on the first day of class at one affordable price. Students are automatically enrolled in the program with the option to opt out. At the start of each term, all students will receive all the physical and digital course materials they need in order to succeed. The cost is included in tuition and fees and calculated on a flat fee of $28 per student per credit hour, regardless of how much each individual textbook costs. This fee will be assessed for students enrolling during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Student may choose to opt out of the program during a specific time at the beginning of each semester.

Technology Fee

A fee of $4.00 per credit hour up to a maximum of $48.00 per semester is required of all curriculum students.  This fee will be assessed for students enrolling during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.  Curriculum technology fees are non-refundable after the first day of the academic term.

A fee of $5.00 may be required for select continuing education courses.  Continuing education technology fees are non-refundable after the first day of class.

Transcript Fee

Official transcripts are available from the National Student Clearinghouse or the Director of Records and Registration at a fee of $5.65 per transcript.
