American Sign Language Certificate
C55300B
WPCC’s certificate in American Sign Language does not certify or qualify individuals to interpret for members of the Deaf community. The certificate is presented as verification that one has completed a prescribed course of study; the certificate in no way implies a certification or test of interpreting skills. Individuals seeking to become interpreters should review the AAS in Interpreter Education webpage at: https://wpcc.smartcatalogiq.com/en/2023-2024/catalog/associate-in-applied-science-degrees/interpreter-education/interpreter-education-a-a-s/
To qualify for full licensure, the North Carolina Interpreter Transliterator Licensure Board requires passing results of the National Interpreter Certification exams administered by the Center for Assessment of Sign Language Interpreters, a subsidiary of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. You can find more information regarding the exam at this address: https://rid.org/certification/
