Financial Aid Application Procedure
Students in need of financial assistance to help with college related expenses should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov .
The FAFSA is academic year specific and must be renewed for each academic year in which the student wishes to receive financial assistance. WPCC’s priority filing date for the FAFSA is June 1st of each year.
The FAFSA is used to determine a student’s eligibility for the PELL Grant, Federal Work Study, and Direct Student Loans. In addition, results of the FAFSA are used to determine eligibility for the NC Community College Grant, the NC Education Lottery Scholarship, and many WPCC Foundation Scholarships.
Certain scholarships and other types of aid may require a separate application available through the Financial Aid Office.
Students who wish to take additional courses at another college and receive credit for Federal Aid at WPCC should complete a Consortium Agreement with the Director of Enrollment Management.
Students wishing to receive financial assistance must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), have transcripts for a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent on file with the Records Office, be enrolled in an eligible program of study (POS) and maintain satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards for Financial Aid Recipients.
