IPP 111 Introduction to Interpretation

This course introduces the ASL-English interpreting profession through classroom instruction and field experiences. Emphasis is placed on historical foundations of the profession, interpreting models, legislation, required assessments, roles and responsibilities in diverse settings, multicultural considerations, Deaf/hearing interpreter teams, and ethical standards. Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate a foundational understanding of the interpreting profession.
