The course introduces the intersection of culture, language, and identity in interpreting, with a focus on Deaf culture through classroom instruction and field experiences. Emphasis is placed on applying knowledge to intercultural communication, analyzing the role of identity, and evaluating cultural impact on interpreting dynamics. Upon completion, students will be able to create strategies for culturally-responsive communication, demonstrate cultural competency through practical application, and engage in self-reflection to enhance interpreting practice.
