IPP 161 Consecutive Interpreting

The course introduces students to the fundamentals of consecutive interpreting between ASL and English, through classroom instruction and field experience. Topics include message management, message equivalence, and refining cognitive processing skills such as listening, comprehension, visualization, paraphrasing, and sight-translation. Upon completion, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in consecutive interpreting protocols and techniques, accurately transfer meaning between ASL and English in various settings, with increasing accuracy.
